HW: Read Milton (460-463), then read Sonnet VII and Sonnet XIX and complete a TPCASTT analysis sheet for each.

Extra Credit Assignment

You are a theater critic for the NY Times. Write a review of Lowcountry Shakespeare's performance of Twelfth Night. Make sure you focus on the adaptatation of Shakespeare's original script as well as the effectiveness of the acting and staging of the play.

Sonnet Assignment

Due Friday October 29 - Your assignment is to compose an original sonnet. It can be Petrarchan, English (Spenserian or Shakespearian), or a hybrid version. Along with your sonnet you need to write a narrative explication containing the following information:

- What is the occasion for your sonnet? (i.e., is it a love poem? a prayer? a question/answer? a problem/solution? Etc.)

- Why did you choose the particular sonnet form that you used?

- What rhyme scheme have you employed? Have you used perfect iambic pentameter or are there any metric variations? If so, why?
